Crucifixion Pillars

"Crucifix Pillar" is an over 7 foot tall painting of the Crucifixion that viewers physically interactive with to alter and rearrange the iconography to their choosing. There are 5 sections to this 3 sided painting, all of which rotate, so if viewers just line up the different facets of the sections there are 243 permutations to the painting. However, viewers have total control and can position the triangular sections projecting at all angles breaking up the imagery and breaking up the picture plane thus creating more permutations. Although all permutations of the painting are equally valid, in creating the painting I did depict a contemporary paraphrase of the Crucifixion, a version derived from the imagery of paintings by Grunewald, Velasquez, Rubens, Emilia and Tournier. Plus it is also possible to create an arrangement involving only abstract marks.
